I built a thriving business and walked away.
For years I ran Southern Peach Co., LLC. A thriving Etsy shop selling t-shirts, embroidery, and all kinds of physical products. From the outside it looked great. From the inside? It was eating me alive. Long days, longer nights, output piled on top of more output, and somewhere in there I lost the joy of making things.
Even back then, while I was still designing for the shirts, I kept running into the same problem: the clip art I needed didn't exist. So I started drawing my own. That was the first sketch of what would become Peachy Designs.
Eventually, I sold the equipment and the inventory and changed direction completely. I went all in on Peachy Designs. First the clip art membership, then the courses, then the tools. (Technically, Peachy Designs is the DBA of Southern Peach Co., LLC.)
A couple of years later, we sold the big house, downsized, and moved to Colorado for a smaller, quieter, more joyful life.
Today, Peachy is a multi six-figure digital business. The only reason I share that is because if I can do this, you can too. No special background, no formal art school, no secret formula. Just a self-taught artist who kept showing up.
Now I get to draw all day. I get to teach. I get to build things. And I get to be home for my family.
Life is short. Find joy in it. Your business should help you do that, not get in the way.
